Non-anesthesia teeth cleaning clinic

A non-Anesthesia dental care program is a preventive care procedure designed to improve the oral hygiene and the overall health of your pet. Without dental care most dogs and cats have at least the beginning signs of periodontal disease by age three. Periodontal disease, if it goes untreated, can lead to oral discomfort, loss of teeth, and infection of vital organs. It is much easier to prevent than to manage a problem. Starting your pets at an early age with a dental care program is one of the first steps in providing the oral care your pet deserves.

WARNING SIGNS OF PET DENTAL DISEASE

* Bad breath, one of the first signs of dental disease.
* A yellowish-brown crust of plaque on the teeth near the gum line.
* Red and swollen gum.
* Pain or bleeding when your pet eats or when the mouth or gum are touched.
* Decreased appetite or difficulty eating.
* Loose or missing teeth.

WHY NON-ANESTHESIA TEETH CLEANING?

* Periodontal disease starts with the build up of plaque. Left untreated, this causes redness and swelling in the gum and eventually the infection can affect the vital organs- liver, lungs, kidneys and heart.
* It is important to have your pets teeth checked and cleaned on a regular basis to prevent the build up of plaque.
* We provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere during the cleaning and polishing of your pets teeth.
* We use only sterilized instruments and gloves on your pet.
* We provide a comprehensive consultation with you about the maintenance of your pets teeth.
* Non-anesthesia teeth cleaning is a fraction of the cost because your pet is not put under anesthesia.
* Great alternative for older pets whom anesthesia is no longer an option.
* Healthier for your pet to not be put under anesthesia on a regular basis. Maintenance programs are offered every 30, 60 or 90 days.

Stages of Periodontal Disease on dogs and cats

  • Healthy gingiva can be graded as PD 0
    Periodontal disease is graded:
  • Stage 1 (PD 1) (gingivitis) appears as a redness of the gingiva with no attachment loss.
  • Stage 2 (PD 2) (early periodontitis) shows an increase in inflammation and edema. In stage 2 there will be less than 25% of support loss when probed.
  • Stage 3 (PD 3) (moderate periodontitis) occurs when there is a moderate loss of attachment or moderate pocket formation with between 25-50% support loss. Furcation exposure and mobility may be present. The gingiva will bleed upon gentle probing at this stage.
  • Stage 4 (PD 4) (advanced periodontitis) occurs when there is breakdown of the support tissues with severe (>50% support loss) pocket depth or recession of the gingiva.
